About the Practitioner
Teresa Bennett-Yates is the founder of Cloud 9 Reiki & Sound and Cloud 9 Retreats. She is a Reiki Master Teacher, vibrational sound therapist, and guide devoted to creating spaces of restoration through presence, frequency, and deep listening.
A native of Calabash, North Carolina, Teresa’s path into healing began after experiencing the profound benefits of Reiki firsthand. Recognizing its impact, she pursued formal training and obtained her Reiki Master Teacher certification through the Lowcountry School of Reiki, with additional extensive study through the International House of Reiki. Her work has continued to evolve through years of practice, study, and lived experience.
Teresa approaches healing as something that is not done to someone, but something that unfolds when the right environment is created. Through sound, Reiki, and attuned presence, she holds spaces where the nervous system can soften, the body can regulate, and the heart can open naturally.
Her sound work centers primarily on deep, resonant instruments such as gongs, Himalayan singing bowls, and other vibrational tools. Sound is offered as a form of nonverbal communication — moving through the body to support grounding, emotional release, and inner coherence. Each session is intuitive and responsive, guided by what is present rather than a predetermined structure.
In addition to her private practice, Teresa is the creator of a Sound Therapy Certification Program, where sound and Reiki are taught as lived, embodied spiritual practices rather than techniques alone. Her teaching emphasizes integrity, discernment, and authenticity, inviting practitioners to work from relationship and presence rather than performance.
Teresa is also a contributing author in the anthology Reiki, Heart & Soul, a collective work sharing the lived wisdom and voices of Reiki practitioners devoted to heart-centered healing.
Whether working one-on-one, with couples, in group settings, or within retreat spaces, Teresa’s intention remains the same: to create environments where people feel safe enough to listen inward, reconnect with themselves, and remember what is essential.
